Publishing on Vrbo (Abritel):
photo guidelines and tips
Vrbo, known in France as Abritel, is widely used for whole properties rented by families or groups of friends, particularly in the mountains. Its photo guidelines are precise, with a minimum number of images that must be met or the listing may be suspended. This guide brings together the official rules and our photographer's tips.
Official Vrbo (Abritel) rules, checked on 16 October 2026. See the sources
What Vrbo (Abritel) requires
At least 6 photos published per property. Below that for more than 30 days, the listing may be permanently suspended.
Minimum resolution of 1024 × 683 pixels; Vrbo (Abritel) recommends 3840 × 2160 pixels or more.
Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or SVG. Landscape format is preferred, portrait is accepted.
Rejected: black and white or sepia, blank photos, duplicates or near-identical photos, blurry or pixelated photos, close-ups, collages, documents, illustrations, overlaid text (web address, contact details), watermarks, logos and borders.
Floor plans are accepted, but maps of the area are not. Duplicates are removed and do not count.
Going beyond the minimum required
Following the rules keeps your photos from being rejected. What makes the difference in the search results is the quality of the presentation.
Aim for well over 6 photos: every room, every bedroom, the outdoor spaces and the surroundings.
Avoid near-identical views: Vrbo (Abritel) removes them. Two genuinely different angles of the same room are better.
No logo or signature on the images: our photos are delivered without watermarks, ready to publish.
For a chalet, add a floor plan: Vrbo (Abritel) accepts it, and it helps families decide who sleeps where.
Writing and completing your Vrbo (Abritel) listing
- Rejected photos appear as "rejected photos" in the owner area (Espace Propriétaire on Abritel: Edit property, then Photos).
- Changes can take up to 10 minutes to appear on the site.
- Write for groups and families: sleeping arrangements, bathrooms, shared spaces, outdoor areas, nearby activities.
- Include mountain information: access to the slopes, shuttle buses, ski room, winter parking.
- Keep the same photos and the same information as on your other listings, to avoid any contradiction.
